In 2010, the University of the Witwatersrand’s School of Construction Economics and Management ran a design competition for their new school building, adjacent to the existing Architecture and Planning School.
26’10 south Architects submitted a design proposal and were finalists in the competition. As project architect I led the project with a small team. The proposed building drew inspiration from the mosaic facade of the original modernist building, while contrasting its rigid form with fluidity and permeability.
