This week-long studio and lecture series, sponsored by the European Union and hosted in Johannesburg explored South Africa’s social housing legacy. My group designed a low-cost addition to the front of the house, which would create a patio interface with the street, mediating a street relationship but also creating important outdoor space for residents.
